Antique 18ct Yellow Diamond Set Wide Buckle Ring, 1912.

$7,400.00

A handsome antique buckle ring in 18ct yellow gold, its wide band modelled as a realistic belt buckle, complete with strap, loop and prong detail rendered in solid gold. A single old European cut diamond is star set at the centre. Fully hallmarked for Chester 1912, placing manufacture firmly in the late Edwardian period, when buckle rings enjoyed particular popularity as a motif of loyalty and steadfastness.

Weighing a substantial 9.3 grams, the ring has real weight and presence on the hand without being cumbersome, and survives in very good condition — the chasing and buckle detail remain crisp and well-defined, with no evidence of excessive wear to the high points.

A characterful, wearable antique ring, equally suited to everyday wear or as a distinctive addition to a collection of early 20th century gold jewellery, combining a strong decorative motif with the reassurance of full English hallmarking.
