Antique Sterling Silver Crown Shaped Cuff/Bangle, 1884.

$2,600.00

Shaped to resemble a crown and angled to sit up the arm rather than flat at the wrist, it has an architectural quality that sets it apart from the more conventional bangles of the period.

The surface is inlaid with both yellow and rose gold, worked into engraved foliate and floral designs that cover the bangle with a fine, detailed pattern. The scalloped upper edge is finished with shot detailing across the top — a small but carefully executed touch that adds texture and definition to the crown form. The reverse is equally well considered, with a hinged tongue and groove clasp that closes cleanly and securely.

At 60mm in diameter it is a comfortable fit, and the condition throughout is excellent for a piece of its age — the inlay work intact, the engraving crisp and the hallmarks clear.

A well preserved and somewhat rare example of Victorian silver work with a strong sense of design and very good decorative detail. Hallmarked Birmingham 1884.
