This ring combines 18ct yellow gold with platinum, a pairing very much in keeping with the Edwardian period, when platinum was becoming the metal of choice for fine diamond settings due to its strength and clean, cool colour. Set north and south within the top plate are three old cut diamonds in millegrain bezel settings, carrying an estimated weight of 0.57ct. Graded at colour J-K and clarity VS2 to SI1.
A further sixteen old cut diamonds extend across the outer edge of the top plate and continue down into the shoulders, their soft sparkle framing the central stones and carrying the diamond content the full width of the ring. Below, a pierced yellow gold underrail completes the construction, adding both lightness and a pleasing structural detail when viewed from the side.
