Fine Victorian 18ct Yellow Gold & Pearl, Black Enameled Bracelet, Circa 1880.

$14,500.00

Dating to around 1880, this is a quietly refined example of Victorian bangle making. The raised flat profile gives the piece a clean, considered form, while the combination of black enamel and natural seed pearls is very much in keeping with the aesthetic sensibilities of the period.

The top section carries a panel of deep black enamel, centred with a single grain set row of nineteen natural seed pearls measuring 2.4mm in diameter. A fine beaded border and gallery edge frame the panel neatly, adding a delicate detail that lifts the overall finish. Turn the bangle over and the construction is equally interesting — the reverse reveals the original riveted work, a straightforward but satisfying glimpse into how these pieces were put together.

At 55mm inner diameter and 8.9mm in width it sits comfortably on the wrist without being overstated, and the fitted safety chain is a practical and period appropriate touch that remains intact.

A well preserved Victorian bangle with good enamel and an honest, unfussy elegance.
