A superb Victorian cluster ring, centred on a round, high-domed crystal opal of approximately 1.20ct, displaying a full and vivid play of colour across its surface. The opal is surrounded by thirteen beautifully matched old mine cut diamonds, totalling approximately 1.04ct, set in silver-upon-gold in the classic Victorian manner.
The underbezel is finely engraved, and the shoulders are modelled as scrolling, tripartite forms, adding movement and sculptural interest either side of the cluster. The ring is stamped internally 'S.B & S Ltd 18ct'.
