Dating to around 1970, this is a confident piece of vintage gold work that sits firmly within the Brutalist jewellery movement of the period. The surface has been worked to resemble tree bark — textured, irregular and deliberately raw in appearance — giving the brooch an organic quality that sets it apart from the more polished aesthetic of earlier decades.
Set across the surface are thirteen modern round brilliant cut diamonds totalling 1.21ct, graded G colour and SI1 clarity. Rather than softening the piece, the diamonds complement the rough texture around them, their brightness contrasting cleanly against the worked gold surface.
